Mozilla Gujarat community is now
active and one of the most trending community in India this days. Recently we received
invitation from GTU (Gujarat Technological University) of Gujarat State which is
one of the top most university in India that we should join them in open source
summer camp to aware students about Mozilla where more than 70 students are
going to come, so I request our RAL to give me the responsibility to coordinate
with GTU and handle this event, so we made a team of 4 people consist of me,
haard patel, drashti pandya and mansi Trivedi. So we decided to talk on some
topics like- What is Mozilla, How Mozilla works, how to contribute in Mozilla,
product of Mozilla and privacy and security. We have more than 5 hours so we
cover as many as topic we can to show them practical and give them hands on
workshop. We introduce them what is FOSS, what is Mozilla , how Mozilla works ,
what is firefox functions and feature of firefox how to use them different-different
editions of firefox aurora, nightly, developer edition then we share about how
to contribute in Mozilla , regarding all the mozilla’s program - student ambassador
program, Mozilla club, sumo , WoMoz, MDN, MLN, Bugzilla, L10n and l20n then
given them hands-on to products of Mozilla – Mozilla thunderbird, Seamonkey, Firefox
Hello, Xray Googles, thimble and MozVR
in the end session was taken by me on Privacy and security where I share
my work experience in cyber security domain and is everyone are secure or not ,
how to be secure ,how to prevent cyber-crime on social media , how to surf
internet safely , how to protect their identity online ,how to communicate securely
online , how they are part of mass surveillance , and how then can get rid of
data sharing online, shown them Lightbeam addon of firefox how 3 party app use their data and many more things on privacy and security. I was very happy
to getting good response and too many question from students regarding information
security. On the other day our events was mentioned in many well know newspaper
in Gujarat, thanks to media to covering our event and let us share the open
source technology and purpose of Mozilla on privacy and security.
